In the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions, there is a custom of eating "Five Yellows" during the Dragon Boat Festival. The "Five Yellows" refer to yellow croakers, cucumbers, eels, salted duck egg yolks, and realgar wine (realgar wine is toxic, so ordinary rice wine is often usedinstead).

People believe that realgar wine can neutralize poisonous creatures like snakes, scorpions, and centipedes. Drinking realgar wine during the Dragon Boat Festival can ward off evil spirits and detoxify the body. In the lunar month of May, people in Jiangnan also call it the "Month of the Five Yellows."
